Considered one of the greatest distance runners in the country, Harry (class of 1925) and Bud Lindsay led the University of Maine to six New England championships and one national title. This Maine pair tied in virtually every dual meet they raced. They co-won the 1927, 1928, and 1929 Maine State College Cross-Country Championships, as well as three straight New England two mile championships and capped their careers by winning the National Intercollegiate Cross-Country Championship. As a senior, Harry set the University of Maine at Orono two mile record at 9:38. During his senior year at Lee he ran an astounding 4:36 mile.
