Press release and more information:

Lee Academy will host its annual Patricia Lynn Corbin Memorial Walk/Run, known as “Patty’s Race”, on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 26 Winn Road in Lee. Patty’s Race honors Patty Lynn Corbin, who was a well-liked 17-year-old junior honor student at Lee Academy when she was killed in an automobile accident on her way home from school in 2002. In Patty’s memory, the race helps raise money for her scholarship fund as well as other Lee Academy fundraising efforts. This year the proceeds will be split three ways between the NHS/Community Service-sponsored Project Angel Tree (which has benefitted over 30 local children for the past two years), the Kenneth Budge Memorial Fund to help institute volleyball as a varsity sport, and the Patricia Corbin Memorial Scholarship. The headmaster will also donate $250 to the Lee Academy class with the most race participants.

Participants may register ahead of time using the registration form online at or in person on race day, beginning at 11:00am. Registration is $10 for the one-mile Kids Fun Run, beginning at 12:00pm, and $15 for high school students or $20 for adults for Patty’s Race 5K, beginning at 1:00pm. The race will be held rain or shine along beautiful woods trails, dirt roads, and some pavement, and the first 100 registrants will receive a t-shirt. Male and female age group winners will be awarded certificates in both races, and fun prizes will be awarded for the muddiest finisher and the participant with the craziest running outfit.
